Commercial Stone Countertops

Stone counters in a business take more punishment than anything in a home. They get wiped dozens of times a day, hit by carts and trays, and they represent your brand to every customer who walks in. HB Marble & Granite fabricates and installs granite, quartz, quartzite, marble and porcelain for commercial spaces, and we’ll help you match the material to the traffic.

Materials

Choosing Material for High Traffic

The right stone depends on traffic and cleaning habits.

Quartz is non-porous and needs no sealing, which is useful where cleaning is frequent and consistent color matters across a long run. Granite is heat- and scratch-resistant and holds up well in busy service areas, though it needs periodic sealing. Quartzite is very hard and works for statement pieces like bars and reception fronts. Porcelain and Dekton resist heat and stains and never need sealing, which suits busy service counters and food prep areas, though edges need protection from hard knocks. Marble is the most delicate and shows etching quickly where acidic products are used, so it’s usually better for low-use feature surfaces.

For daily cleaning, use pH-neutral products on natural stone rather than harsh or bleach-based wipes.

Long Runs, Seams and Scheduling

Long island run · HB project

Commercial counters are often long, so seam placement and consistent slab selection matter more than at home. Where a large run needs matching, we walk the slabs with you so the stone reads as one surface. We also review the layout before cutting, as we do on every job.

Businesses can’t always close for an install, so we’ll talk through scheduling around your hours and your other trades. Many commercial jobs involve a general contractor or designer, and we’re glad to coordinate with them. See how we work with contractors, builders and designers, or browse finished stone work in the gallery and available stones on the colors page.

Questions

Commercial Countertop FAQs

Another question about commercial? Call the showroom and talk to someone who works with the stone every day.

What is the best countertop for a commercial space?

It depends on the space. Quartz and porcelain suit frequent cleaning because they’re non-porous, while granite, quartzite and porcelain handle heat and heavy use well. Marble is better for low-traffic feature areas. We’ll recommend a stone after hearing how the surface will be used.

Can you work with our general contractor or designer?

Yes. We coordinate selections, templating and layout approval with the people running your project so the stone arrives when the cabinets and substrates are ready.

What do you need to quote a commercial job?

Plans or drawings if available, the dimensions and locations of each counter, the material you have in mind, and any fixture or sink details. Photos of the space help too.
